00:01 – 00:32
Jessica Miller: Hello everyone and welcome to this week’s episode of the It’s Your Offer podcast. For all of you in the US, happy almost Thanksgiving. I’m so excited and grateful for all of you listeners, whether you’re in the US or not. This is that time of the year where we really think about being thankful, being grateful. And I am immensely thankful and grateful for all of you. So, thank you for being on this journey and for joining us on the podcast. Today, I’m doing a more personal podcast. Yes, it’s related to business growth and habits, but really, it’s

00:32 – 00:56
Jessica Miller: sort of a window into some of the things that I’ve uncovered over the last year that I wanted to share with all of you. Many of us were on our journey for growth. We love our business. We’re doing all the things, but sometimes it’s not all roses. It’s not easy. We’re just kind of going through the motions and sometimes we end up in a place where it just doesn’t feel that great. Maybe it’s not growing the way we want it to grow. Maybe it’s not feeling the way we want it to feel. Maybe there’s just something

00:56 – 01:23
Jessica Miller: that just feels off when we kind of lose our spark. I know for me; I have come to those places sometimes and sometimes I come in and out of them a lot and I struggled with how do you get out of those places when you’re in them? And so, I really started to dig into how do I raise my vibe? When it’s just not something easy that comes to me and depending on what’s happening in your business or your personal life, it could be like a tsunami of things all at one time. And so just when

01:23 – 01:48
Jessica Miller: you’re like getting through one thing, maybe you haven’t felt well, or there’s a health thing going on, or something happened in your business, or whatever it is, it seems like something else comes right behind it that just kind of seems to take the wind out of your sails. So, for me, the year sort of felt like that at certain times. And it’s not really my nature to not be able to sort of get back up again and get back up on the horse again and just keep going. But there were times where I really sort of

01:48 – 02:19
Jessica Miller: lost my footing and I was struggling with how do I feel better? How do I make this better? And I couldn’t quite figure that out and I sort of lost my footing. Well for me, like I always do, where there is a will, there is a way. And I was thinking through my life and I was thinking through my business and I thought to myself, okay, if I apply to this problem, what I try to apply for some of the business problems that I help my clients with and help myself with in my business, you know,

02:19 – 02:48
Jessica Miller: how would I look at getting out of this sort of stuck place in a way that if I did something, it would be a powerful thing to move myself forward? Well, I couldn’t quite figure that out right away. Tried a lot of different things. Tried all the things that sort of people would tell me, like write in a gratitude journal and, you know, I don’t know, listen to affirmations for 15 minutes a day. And many of those things didn’t stick. But I kept at it. And after a while, after trying all the things, I found a

02:48 – 03:18
Jessica Miller: handful of things that I thought were really, really powerful levers. The more I started to talk about that with other people, or I would ask for advice in masterminds that I was in, or groups that I was in, I would start to hear people saying the same sort of thing. They would be echoing back some of the things that I did that also helped them. And I was like, oh, there’s something to this. And I was just compelled to share it. So today I want to talk to you about thinking about these habits, not just as

03:18 – 03:59
Jessica Miller: a lever that you can pull when you’re really stuck, but especially you can do that when you are stuck, but also helping to incorporate these things as habits that really help catapult your personal and your business success. I have found that these things repeatedly helped me to perform better, to feel better, to look better, all the things. They just affect so many parts of my life. And the reason I love them is because they’re potent, they’re powerful. I found when I incorporated these things into my life, that they actually had profound return on the investment of

03:59 – 04:31
Jessica Miller: time and energy that I was putting in. And you know me, I love that. I love the efficiency of that. And I love the idea that I could do a small thing that had a really major impact on all of these assets of myself. Like I said, my personal life, my business, my growth, all the things. So, I’m going to share with you what these are today. And I hope that there is a nugget in here. If you are stuck, if you are feeling like you just, you want to be on that higher frequency, but you

04:31 – 05:05
Jessica Miller: can’t quite tap into it. I hope that some of these things will give you something to try or to think about. And if it works for you, a reminder to incorporate it into your life, even in the tiniest ways every single day, because it has profound impacts on so many areas of your life. So, I really hope that this will be something that gives you that little reminder or the nugget that you were looking for. So, the first thing that I found that really helped me was incorporating what I love to call white space in my

05:05 – 05:37
Jessica Miller: life. This actually started about a year and a half ago when I was in a virtual mastermind and they would have virtual retreats once a quarter. And I decided to instead of staying home to jump on this virtual retreat for the day, it was sort of an all-day retreat, I was going to go someplace else. And at that time, it was to our place, we have a little place up in Maine, and I was going to go up there and I was going to pretend that I was literally Going on retreat and going on vacation and

05:37 – 06:11
Jessica Miller: I was going to pull myself out of my day-to-day Life and I was going to put myself into a different environment. Look just a completely different place. I found at that time that the shift in environment and the spaciousness of giving myself that time was a game changer. I ended up staying up there for the day long retreat, and then I stayed overnight into the next day. It was about 2 days long. I treated it like it was a vacation I thought about you know, what am I gonna eat? What kind of things could I do?

06:11 – 06:46
Jessica Miller: What would I raise my vibe? How would I pamper myself in a way that it would feel like I was actually on retreat. I was creating this space, this white space in my calendar and in my life to be immersed in what I was doing and just to be out of the usual routine. At that time, it was such a game changer for me that I decided to incorporate it into my life every quarter. And for about a year, that’s exactly what I did. I worked with my husband around our schedules and we actually alternated where

06:46 – 07:19
Jessica Miller: we would go up there once a quarter and we would just get this white space. Like any great thing, I sort of fell out of the rhythm. And when I started to get stuck this year and I was looking for those levers to pull, I remembered how powerful this white space was. That time to let yourself think, marinate, dream, so many powerful things come in the white space. And I talked about this a lot in my content and different business groups that I was in around the power of the white space. Many of us type A

07:19 – 07:52
Jessica Miller: personalities, we think it’s in the doing. I’m here to tell you it’s in the not doing. And even when you’re not doing something, you are doing something so powerful. So, giving yourself that space, changing my environment, that was so key. So, I started to incorporate it again this year and I did it both by myself and I did it with a friend at one point. And literally I felt like I was being reborn. The ideas that came out of it, the energy that was found, the Zen place, the relief, all of those things were so, so

07:52 – 08:26
Jessica Miller: present. So, finding white space has been a huge opportunity for me. It doesn’t have to be something huge, lavish, expensive. You could like go, you know, whatever, rent a space for a day or sit in a park for a day or go to a coffee shop. I mean, I remember when I first went up to our place in Maine to do this activity, get this white space, it was the middle of the winter and it was like 40 degrees and let me tell you I got a coffee and I sat outside at a little like table

08:27 – 09:01
Jessica Miller: and I thought only in Maine, so I’m gonna be sitting outside writing down all of her business ideas that were pouring out of me as I’m drinking that coffee bundled up you know at this table outside of this little shop so it doesn’t need to be expensive or anything like that. Figure out what lights you up. Go to that place. Recreate that and give yourself the space. The second lever I found was really important was being very intentional about what I was consuming. And I mean this both from a physical consumption place, meaning what am I

09:01 – 09:33
Jessica Miller: putting into my body that is affecting my physical being and how I feel and my mood and how my body is functioning, as well as what I am consuming mentally? What kind of things am I spending my time reading? Where am I hanging out and taking in all this information? What kind of a vibe is in the material and stuff that I am spending my time bringing into my brain? This has been a powerful lever from so many angles I cannot even tell you. From a physical consumption perspective, one of the things that I have found

09:33 – 10:04
Jessica Miller: on my health journey and many of you who know my story know it has been quite a journey and an adventure on many, many levels. But I have found when I thought about how I’m showing up in the world, my energy, my mood, what is one thing that I could really do to make all of those things better? It was what I put in my mouth literally. What kind of food am I eating and how does it agree or not agree with my body? And also, what am I putting in my brain? I cannot tell you

10:04 – 10:40
Jessica Miller: that when I eat better, I sleep better, I read things that are inspirational or that are soul-filling or they’re increasing my knowledge, they maybe are things that are restoring my faith in humanity, whatever it is, the downstream effect of that both in my business and my personal life is huge. I mean to the point that I can track it. On the days where I am dialed in and I’m consuming things in a good way, I have more energy. I can get out and talk to my clients in a more powerful way. I can show up in

10:40 – 11:10
Jessica Miller: a visible way to help, you know, on my sales calls or in speaking events. I’m visible in the groups that I’m in. I am pushing energy out in a way that’s so powerful; it has a huge impact on my business. In my personal life, I have more patience. I can be more present for my family. I can listen to the things that sometimes irk me or when people are talking to me at 10 times, you know, all everyone’s at the same time, and I can answer those things and be there with grace. I am nicer to

11:10 – 11:43
Jessica Miller: myself, to my children, to my husband, to everybody around me, even to the person who like cuts you off in the grocery, you know, parking lot. It is so measurable how much that affected my life and how differently I feel. And so, I really, really encourage you to be intentional around what you’re consuming, what you’re putting in your mouth, what, you know, the amount of caffeine you’re drinking. Maybe you’re someone who likes to have, you know, a glass of wine at the end of the day or things like that. Alcohol is a very powerful chemical. You

11:43 – 12:16
Jessica Miller: know, how are you consuming that? When are you consuming that? How are you utilizing that? What you’re reading, what you’re watching, all the things, you know, the spaces that you’re in. It all matters. Be intentional with what you’re consuming. Make sure that you’re taking the time each day to take those precious minutes and fill them with things that really matter to you, that you know are gonna have a positive impact on you energetically and physically. It is everything. I always joke with my kids because you wanna tell them to Eat well and be good to their

12:16 – 12:47
Jessica Miller: body. And I always say like you need your body more than it needs you Like it is such a huge piece of how we go through the world how we feel affects what we’re thinking affects how we can function So we want to be really good to our body both like mentally and physically The third thing I have found and people who are in groups with me right now, they’re listening to this podcast, they’re not gonna be surprised, but laughing, humor has been such a huge piece of pulling me out of those stuck places. I have

12:47 – 13:14
Jessica Miller: picked up books that I have read. one of my favorite books are You Are a Badass by Jensen Chero. If you are a client of mine, you’re listening to this, you’ve probably gotten that book as a welcome gift. Every time I read it, it is so witty and so wise and so funny, I am laughing. I will tell you all a story that the first time that I read this book, I was on a flight to London. I was on a flight to London. And I was sitting there and I was reading this book and I

13:14 – 13:43
Jessica Miller: was laughing so hard that I was crying and we’re taking off and I’m like crying, crying, crying. And the plane levels out and the stewardess comes over and says, ma’am, are you okay? And I’m like, oh my gosh, yes, I’m okay. I’m just laughing so hard at this book and how like wise and on point and frankly hysterical it is. If you haven’t read this book, you have to read it. But I’m totally fine. But she thought I was like bawling. I was laughing so hard. Every time I read that book, every time I dial into

13:43 – 14:13
Jessica Miller: the people in my life that make me laugh. You know, I’m not a huge fan of consuming like social media and things like that just for like binging but there are some funny things out there that you can just watch every time It’s hysterical like laughing at that human condition having that grace for yourself and for people and just to sometimes feel like, you know, life is just comical. Like even in the hardest moments, it can be almost like funny to a fault. But finding those places to laugh and the people to laugh with and the

14:13 – 14:44
Jessica Miller: things to laugh at, it is like the best medicine. And it is such an important one of my values. I really, I incorporate it into my business. I try to incorporate it into my life. And so really tapping into that when I needed those places to get unstuck. The thing I love about laughing too is it’s like, it’s an instantaneous thing. It feels awesome and it can like snap you right out of that thing that you’re stuck in. So, incorporating laughter into your life, like how it feels and just kind of making that shift in your

14:44 – 15:15
Jessica Miller: brain when you need it the most and leaning into the people and the things that can give you that. Another thing similar to that for me is music. I love music. I shared with you all that I started playing guitar. I started playing years ago. I picked it up, but I’ve always wanted to pick it back up. Well, I was stuck in February especially and I picked that guitar up and I started playing it again and I absolutely love it. Love it. Every bit of it. Creating the music, hearing it, knowing I’m the person that’s making

15:15 – 15:46
Jessica Miller: it, sitting in those moments and pretending that I am a rock star and that this is my journey. All the things, the people that it connected me to, the community, my amazing guitar teacher who’s so awesome. I never would have had any of those experiences. And it was really the thing I needed at that moment to kind of get me out of the space. Any of you who play an instrument or doing any type of art at all, it’s so immersive. And it really just gets you into that space. And I think it gives you such

15:46 – 16:18
Jessica Miller: a deep appreciation for just the skill level and the things that are created from the arts. So, I highly recommend if you’re somebody who loves music, drawing, singing, whatever it is, even movement, dancing, you know, martial arts. It is such a great thing to think about. How do you incorporate this into your day? And how do you help it get you out of those stuck places? Maybe it’s the thing that you need right now. Going out into nature is another thing. I remember when I went to Kripalu, if anyone has not been there, it’s such an

16:18 – 16:54
Jessica Miller: amazing place out in Western Massachusetts in Lennox. I went out to Kripalu and it was so healing. It’s such an amazing wellness center for yoga and wellness and many spiritual arts. But they had something on their menu called forest bathing, forest bathing. And I was like, what is this? But really it was created around the science that when you go into nature and you sort of bathe and immerse yourself in the forest, that you have an energetic shift. And I do believe that when you go into contact with nature, the silence, the energy of the things

16:54 – 17:28
Jessica Miller: around you, depending on where that is, like if you’re in Sedona or you’re in some other places, the energy is very different. But being immersed in nature, there’s something really powerful about that. Even the grounding nature, like touching the earth or touching a tree, you should try it. I mean, for me, before I realized this was an intentional thing. Like when was the last time, I put my hand on the bark of a tree? Like never, I mean, probably years. And I was like, oh my gosh, just like the feeling of touching the earth or touching

17:28 – 18:05
Jessica Miller: the tree. People garden for that reason too, to get out in nature. Never mind the vitamin D of being in the sun and the fresh air. So that connection sort of to your roots, I feel like it grounds you. For me, that was something really powerful. It was in May; my husband and I went to Yosemite National Park. I haven’t been there in years. Just to stand amongst the scale of that park, the mountains, just looking at it, you’re like, this is magnificent. Being in that space was really, really altering on every level. You could just feel

18:05 – 18:33
Jessica Miller: your whole nervous system just relaxes. So, if you’re a kind of person that needs that, needs to get out of the fray, maybe that’s the thing to reset you, go for it. Find that place in nature. There’re so many great places to just like go walk on the path in the woods. You don’t have to necessarily go to like Yosemite National Park, but I highly recommend it if you haven’t been. And in May, I took myself by myself, which was a huge deal to go so far away, but I went to Banff National Park and I

18:33 – 19:03
Jessica Miller: couldn’t even believe it. I drove in and I just started hysterical crying. It was such a moving experience like A, to be there and B just to know that I got myself there. Like I took that chance even with all the resistance not wanting to leave my family. Is this the right deal? Well, what am I doing going by myself? It was so powerful. And it just set everything in motion. So, these things were sort of strategically put in those places, but they’re so simple. And there are things that could really be powerful. And last but

19:03 – 19:30
Jessica Miller: not least, and I think this is the most important 1, and for every single person listening to this podcast, I want you to know that I can be in this circle of this last thing I’m going to tell you about. You are never alone. There are people around you that love you and want to help you and they want to be there for you if you just extend that hand and you reach out. But one of the most powerful things that really has set me up for success, a habit that sometimes I’ve had to really intentionally

19:30 – 20:05
Jessica Miller: lean into, is surrounding yourself with your people. Who are those people that just fill you up? What are those spaces you want to be in with these amazing people that are there to help you thrive? They’re there to celebrate with you. They’re there to hold you up in the tough times, they’re there to give you advice, they’re there to just listen, they’re there to make your life rich. And those people, I have to tell you, when it comes to success both personally and professionally, that is where it’s at. There is so much collective goodness. People are

20:05 – 20:33
Jessica Miller: so awesome. I know sometimes we can feel like we’re being pulled off track. I know life can be bananas crazy sometimes and sometimes we’re just like I just want to go into a hole and not talk to anybody. And sometimes we end up being in a hole like that, even just by the nature of what we do as business owners. It’s kind of like you’re sitting at the top of Mount Olympus and you’re all alone. And you sometimes don’t even realize you’ve gotten there. But then you all of a sudden sort of wake up and you’re

20:33 – 21:09
Jessica Miller: in this sort of struggled place and you’re like, I feel so alone. Like, where are my people? I am here to tell you, make it intentional that you find your people. Find your people. They are there and they are everything. And even if it’s just one person, it is literally like a therapy session because they get it and they get you and they’re resourceful and they’re awesome and they can help you. And there are so many things that these awesome people can do to help you in your personal and your business life. And making a habit

21:09 – 21:37
Jessica Miller: of connecting them, not getting so busy in the to-do of your business or letting the day escape you that you don’t have time to have that quick phone call or go meet somebody for breakfast or go get a coffee or just drop that quick text message or that email. It doesn’t have to mean you need to like go away with somebody for the weekend. I mean it can be that and if you have your people and you can do that, I highly recommend it. You know, to give credit where credit is due. My husband and I,

21:37 – 22:11
Jessica Miller: we have been so intentional and awesome about being able to do this for each other. Sometimes you just need time with your best pal, or your business bestie. Sometimes you just need time with your spouse or your partner, whoever that is. But you make the time to really lean into the people in your life that are awesome. Like who you surround yourself with has a huge impact on your business, your success, your profits, and also on your personal life. And they are everything. And like I said, if you’re listening to this, you’re not alone. I get

22:11 – 22:38
Jessica Miller: to be part of your sound waves and your system. And I’m so grateful to be in all of your orbits and the same I hope is true for me too. There are so many people out there that can help you. Find them. Right? It could be the person in the audio book. It could be the podcast. It could be your bestie. It could be the person in your mastermind group. It could be all of those things. Even spending time with my clients. I love them. I choose them. They’ve chose me. And it’s so awesome to be

22:38 – 23:07
Jessica Miller: in that space with them. So, who you surround yourself with is such an important piece of how you thrive. And I would say it’s one of the most important pieces. So, you want to make sure you really lean into that and pull that lever, especially when you need it, but also every day. So just to recap, here are the places where I have found when I lean into this, when I make it happen, it actually impacts my life on a huge level and it absolutely has a huge impact on the growth and the success of my

23:07 – 23:39
Jessica Miller: business. So that first place is the white space. Create the white space, change your environment, give yourself that time and space to Go and just be in a different place. Be with your thoughts. Be with your magic. Be with all the manifesting that comes when we can just sort of marinate in that space. 2, make sure you’re watching what you consume, both physically and mentally. Figure out what are the things that when you put in your body in mind, they create great things in your life It is so important to be intentional with that 3 laugh

23:39 – 24:08
Jessica Miller: laugh as much as you can with as many people as you can about as many things as you can It is an instantaneous like I think like shockwave to your brain and it just feels so good. You can literally feel it in your body automatically and in my opinion there’s nothing better than laughing with somebody else. It’s just so good on so many levels. Incorporate things like music and nature into your life. They ground you. It is such a visceral experience. It can be so immersive and it can change your vibe in an instant. And I

24:08 – 24:36
Jessica Miller: think it’s one of those things that really connects us to other people. So, make sure that you incorporate that into your day. And then last but not least, find your people and surround yourself with them. Don’t make the people that enrich your life and are there to help you and support you in so many ways, don’t make it an afterthought. Definitely reach into those people when you need them, when you’re feeling stuck, when you’re not sure how to move forward and we all have those places, it is part of the human condition, but also make it

24:36 – 25:05
Jessica Miller: part of your everyday life. I really believe that if you do that and you connect with people in that way and you do any of the things on this list, it will actually help buoy you out of those dark places. It will help keep you elevated to an extent that, yes, we’re still gonna get stuck sometime. And yes, life is still gonna come in and business is gonna come in and it’s gonna kind of knock us over, but it gives you that buoyancy. And so, you wanna try to keep it there so that it’s also it’s

25:05 – 25:35
Jessica Miller: a muscle that you’re Continuing to do and then when you really need it, you can also like pull it faster There’s more strength there to help you wade through the storm that you might need. So those are the things, as I mentioned, I hope there is a gold nugget in there for you if you need it right now. And of course, I would always love to hear from any of you. If you’re in a place where you need a voice or you need to connect with someone, you know where to find me. All this information is

25:35 – 26:03
Jessica Miller: in our show notes and you can always reach out. We also want to hear how it’s working for you. We want to know, hey, I did this thing and it was really great. Hey, I’ve been struggling, but this thing worked. We want to hear all that. If there are other things that you do that help you sort of incorporate these habits and create success and momentum in your life, we wanna know about them. And we’re always here to shout you out and to celebrate you. So, with that, everyone, I’m wishing you all the success, all the

26:03 – 26:07
Jessica Miller: amazing habits, all the good vibes for the week And I’ll see you here next week. Have a good one.
