Jessica Miller

00:00 – 00:22

Hello, everyone, and welcome back to the It’s Your Offer podcast. I’m so excited to be here with you today because we’re diving into one of my favorite topics, how to end your year strong and set yourself up for massive clarity, cash flow, and momentum heading into your next year. Now this time of year always brings up a lot of energy around finishing strong. Are you feeling it?

Jessica Miller

00:22 – 00:41

Like I am hearing it all the time and I am feeling it. Everyone is talking about hitting their goals, closing the loop, planning for what’s next. But here’s what I’ve learned from years of growing my own business and helping seven figure entrepreneurs do the same thing. The way you approach your year-end planning is everything.

Jessica Miller

00:42 – 00:58

Because strategy isn’t just about goals and spreadsheets. It’s about creating space and conditions that allow your best ideas to surface. And then turning those ideas into a clear and actionable plan. That’s what we’re gonna talk about today.

Jessica Miller

00:58 – 01:29

The practices that have completely transformed how I close out my year and design the next one and how my clients are doing this. And I’ll also share how these same principles have inspired all of my programs, all of my packages, and the way I have designed my retreats, which most recently is one of the things that we’ve been focusing on in my business. Because all of these things are built around exactly what helps you access your next level of growth with ease. So, let’s start with the truth about planning season.

Jessica Miller

01:29 – 01:51

Most business owners I know approach the end of the year from a place of urgency. It’s the end of the year, they’re in back-to-back meetings, they’re wrapping up client projects, they’re trying to squeeze in this like planning, quote-unquote, somewhere between school pickups and their Q4 deliverables. Does this sound familiar to anybody listening to this? It’s almost like giving me the chills because I remember being in that place.

Jessica Miller

01:51 – 02:12

It’s very reactionary, it feels rushed, and honestly, it keeps you in that same energy that created your current results. Real strategy, the kind that changes the trajectory of your business, doesn’t come from hustle. It doesn’t come from reaction. It comes from space, that expansive place.

Jessica Miller

02:12 – 02:46

And every single leap that I have made in my business has happened when I have stepped away from the day-to-day and gave myself time to think, to dream, and to get clear on what really mattered for me. And that’s what I want to walk you through today, how to intentionally create that kind of space for yourself. So, there are five elements that really unlock your best strategy. And I want to talk about those five elements that I found to be game changers when it comes to deep strategic planning and how you can start to integrate them into your own process.

Jessica Miller

02:47 – 03:06

So, I’m going to walk you through these five elements. So, number one is your environment. You want to be in a beautiful and inspiring space. I have to tell you as a side note, my environment is so powerful for me in every like every stretch of the imagination.

Jessica Miller

03:07 – 03:26

…in my home, in my business, where I get inspired, it is everything. When you are in a space that you care about, you show up differently. Your surroundings really matter. And when you’re in a space that’s beautiful, that is light-filled, that is inspiring, your energy shifts.

Jessica Miller

03:26 – 03:43

You see things differently. Your creativity literally expands. When I think about the most powerful breakthroughs that I have had, they have never happened sitting at my kitchen counter or scrolling through my calendar. They’re not sitting in front of my computer like doing all the things.

Jessica Miller

03:43 – 04:14

They happened when I was somewhere that felt elevated and peaceful and expansive yet grounded. And this is why I’m so intentional about picking spaces where it fosters that type of growth, why I host my retreats in spaces like the Canyon Ranch. Because when you are surrounded by beauty and nature and things that are built and appointed to inspire you and make you feel so amazing, your ideas rise to meet that vibe. And you know how I feel about rising to meet the vibe.

Jessica Miller

04:15 – 04:24

Like, hell yes. Talk about it all the time. It is so important. I have watched these intentional spaces transform how people show up and what they create.

Jessica Miller

04:24 – 04:59

One of my clients, Brooke, who attended one of my retreats last year, literally changed before my eyes. From the ideas that transpired to the imagery she captured on her selfies that she was sharing on social media, she stepped into a whole new version of herself. This led her to create a new graphic design offer because she was a graphic designer and that offer quickly attracted her ideal clients and allowed her to charge a premium price. The space was crucial and her ability to raise to that vibe and show up there was everything.

Jessica Miller

04:59 – 05:12

So that is number one. Number two is it’s the disconnection. It’s the ability to step away from the day to day. If you want to think differently, you have to step away from what is familiar.

Jessica Miller

05:13 – 05:27

You have to get out of your routine and out of your environment. It is nearly impossible to see your business clearly when you are still in it. You know, answering emails, managing your team, juggling your clients, like taking calls. We have all been there.

Jessica Miller

05:28 – 05:54

When you remove yourself from that noise, you can finally see the big picture again. It is so powerful. And if you can’t physically get away right now, just start small, like block a couple of hours, leave your phone behind, go someplace quiet, you’ll cut yourself out of that, you know, day to day stuff. You will be amazed what comes up when you give yourself permission to disconnect.

Jessica Miller

05:54 – 06:17

There is nothing like white space in your day and in your calendar. I used to think this was a nice to have, but I have watched so many of my clients get away from it all and have the ability to access all that wisdom that is sitting under the surface. One of my clients, her name is Christina, she ran one of the biggest business communities in the Boston area. We are talking like 50,000 plus women.

Jessica Miller

06:17 – 06:37

She had two little kids and lots of responsibility. When she was able to turn all of that off and focus on her and her business, she came up with her next million-dollar idea for her community. And I mean, million-dollar idea and counting. We need the time and space and the permission to claim it.

Jessica Miller

06:38 – 06:48

Disconnection really is the key to connecting. The third thing is white space. It’s giving yourself room to think. I love this word white space.

Jessica Miller

06:48 – 06:57

It’s just so good. It’s that space on your calendar that is literally white. It is untethered. It is unscheduled.

Jessica Miller

06:57 – 07:14

This one is huge. We are so conditioned to fill every moment, to schedule every hour, that we forget that creativity needs space. The best ideas don’t show up when you are forcing them. They appear in the quiet between the doing.

Jessica Miller

07:14 – 07:45

When I create white space in my calendar, and I will tell you, this is a non-negotiable and I do this all the time in my day-to-day business, in my calendar every single week, entire mornings with no agenda, entire days with no agenda. I have shared with many of you what my summer looked like where I was client-facing, working one, maybe one and a half days a week, where there were these big swaths of time to have this white space. That is when the big visions land. That is when clarity replaces chaos.

Jessica Miller

07:46 – 08:14

So don’t underestimate the power of an open block of time on your calendar. That is where genius lives. I have learned this the hard way over the course of my career to be completely transparent. Always thinking that the power was in the doing I loved to be doing something I thought it made me important and productive and all the things but it wasn’t efficient that like sitting in front of your computer producing the thing has its place but when you’re there all…

Jessica Miller

08:14 – 08:56

the time, I am living proof that this does not lead to growth and creativity It leads to burnout It leans to you hating your business, hating showing up for that because you’re so depleted. White space is now an integral part of my coaching and my consulting programs and is an integral part to my own business and it’s non-negotiable. It is not an afterthought because it’s in the white space when you’re not quote unquote doing anything that you are creating everything. Just a short list of the things that have come out of my own white space are this podcast, my retreats, my Rock Your Business VIP days, my signature talks, and the list goes on.

Jessica Miller

08:56 – 09:11

And it is so important, as I mentioned, that this is intentionally baked in. It is not an afterthought. It is not the scraps that are left over when you can like get it here and there. It’s a thing that you prioritize and you build your business around it or you build your programs around it.

Jessica Miller

09:11 – 09:31

And when you’re doing deep work like planning at the end of the year or doing something like that, you need to allow for that space to integrate, to let those brilliant ideas come forward. It’s that reflection time that really just adds kerosene and lets things really be birthed. It is so powerful. So white space is awesome.

Jessica Miller

09:31 – 09:44

The fourth thing is guidance. Having someone to help you access and organize your best ideas. We all have incredible ideas floating around in our heads. Like I mentioned, there’s a goldmine sitting inside of you and your business.

Jessica Miller

09:45 – 10:09

But translating them into a clear and actionable plan, that is a whole other story. And having a guide, a coach, a facilitator, someone who can help you draw those ideas out and organize them into something simple and strategic is invaluable. It allows you to take all of these things and bring it forth in an efficient way. Sometimes you just need someone to help you see what’s already there.

Jessica Miller

10:09 – 10:27

It’s helping you uncover that gold that’s already sitting in your business that I’ve always talked about. And this is a big part of what I do at these retreats. helping business owners pull out their brilliance and weave it into a plan that feels focused, achievable, and easy. One of my clients, her name is Wendy.

Jessica Miller

10:27 – 10:43

She is amazing. She’s an amazing accountant. She’s been to several of my retreats, but she attended one of my first retreats and I will never forget it because she was running an accounting business and she was trading time for money and she was getting pigeonholed into just helping people with taxes. It’s the thing that she always did.

Jessica Miller

10:44 – 10:56

It’s the thing that she, you know, kind of viewed herself at. It was what she knew how to put together in her business. But she was struggling with thinking about how to get out of that. How else could she package her work?

Jessica Miller

10:57 – 11:16

What was the most, you know, valuable things to her clients? And how could she price it powerfully to align with her ideal clients that she wanted to work with and streamline her workflow? Over the course of a few days when we worked together, she uncovered how she really wanted to be working with her clients and the people in her business. And we put together her 90-day plan.

Jessica Miller

11:16 – 11:34

And fast forward to today, she’s now doubled her business and has a wait list. And she only offers taxes to the clients that are on her retainer packages. It was there, but she needed help extracting it. And she needed help doing that in a safe place, in a place that was aligned with her energy.

Jessica Miller

11:34 – 12:02

And that is the power of being in a space where somebody can help you move through that. The last and final thing is community. Surrounding yourself with like-minded, expansive people. And when we think about planning ahead and strategy and even end of year or into a new year or a new phase in your life, that expansiveness and that like-mindedness with people and the people around you helping you and supporting you and cheering you on is everything the…

Jessica Miller

12:02 – 12:32

…energy of the room that you are in matters more than anything. I cannot say this enough you cannot go it alone the spaces you are in and the people you are with they have a vibe that affects you and when you’re surrounded by other entrepreneurs who are dreaming big, they are doing big things, they are really going after the stuff that they want, they’re also craving that simplicity and alignment around them, so they’re not doing all the things, it elevates you too. It reminds you of what’s possible.

Jessica Miller

12:32 – 12:53

It makes you brave, right? You step into it. Building a business is a courageous thing, and we need people there mirroring that for us. At every single retreat, I see women walk in with ideas that feel out of reach, like unattainable, and by the end of the weekend, they’ve turned those ideas into a plan and the confidence to go and execute it.

Jessica Miller

12:54 – 13:18

That is what happens when you are in the right room. And you’ve all heard me talk about being in the right rooms. Huge and it is an understatement that being in a room with the people who get it and get you will catapult your business it happens almost instantly when a room is curated and you have someone holding the space for you to show up as the person you want to be and other people opening their arms to support you.

Jessica Miller

13:18 – 14:07

I have been amazed at the magic of bringing ten seemingly strangers together Knowing that they’re gonna like each other because of course the room is created intentionally for that and I know amazing people but watching them become true colleagues and trust each other and even lifetime friends over the course of a retreat or a program that I’m doing and beyond is life-changing for everyone, me and them. And I used to think this was just like a fluke thing, but I’ve come to realize that it’s now a superpower of mine and it’s the secret sauce to helping people take what they’ve created and use this special place to really magnify it. So, when you combine all these elements, your environment that you’re in, disconnecting, white space, guidance, community, you create a formula for clarity that is unstoppable.

Jessica Miller

14:08 – 14:29

And this is where your best strategies come from. When I give myself this kind of time every year, my vision sharpens, my priorities get simpler. It gets so clear what I want to do and I make more money with a lot less chaos, a whole lot more ease and way more fun. It is really the strategic planning that I want for all of you.

Jessica Miller

14:29 – 14:49

So, this is exactly why I created the programs and the offers that I have, and why I created the Canyon Ranch Retreat the way I have created it. And it’s not just a getaway. It’s a curated experience built around these five elements. It’s a place where you can step out of your routine, think deeply about your next level, and create a strategy that feels aligned, spacious, and powerful.

Jessica Miller
