Jessica Miller

00:01 – 00:30

Hello, everyone. Happy New Year and welcome back to the It’s Your Offer podcast. I’m so excited to be here with you. I hope you had a beautiful end of the year and your new year is off to an amazing start and you’re looking forward to creating so many amazing things in the year coming up. As I reflected on my own year and on my business and the things that I did to help catapult my success, both in the last 12 months, but also in general, I discovered something that I needed to share with all of you.

Jessica Miller

00:31 – 01:03

You know, one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned in business and honestly in life is that most of what you want is just sitting there waiting for you. But it doesn’t show up until you do one thing. You ask for it. I’m talking about asking for guidance when you feel stuck, asking for help before you hit burnout, and we have all been there, myself included, asking to get on that stage, that podcast, or that panel that you have always wanted to be on, to get in front of those people who need to know that you exist.

Jessica Miller

01:04 – 01:48

Asking for the sale without hesitation and sometimes just asking, how can I help you? Because curiosity opens doors you didn’t even know were there. But here’s the thing, most business owners don’t ask. They are afraid of looking desperate, of being rejected, or of coming off as just too much, that little extra, that doesn’t feel good. And that fear, it is holding you back. Because asking isn’t a sign of weakness. It’s a sign of clarity, confidence, and courage. And it is one of the most powerful levers I have ever pulled in my business and one of the things that I think I do really well.

Jessica Miller

01:48 – 02:18

I ask for what I want. So, in today’s episode, I’m going to share how asking in all of its forms, in all of the things that I just mentioned and so much more, has been one of the most powerful strategies I’ve ever implemented. I’ll break down how you can ask for guidance and help, you know, avoid those pitfalls. Ask for access to the rooms that you want to be on, the stages, the networks that will transform your growth. Ask to serve others in ways that build lasting relationships that feel good and amazing and are reciprocal.

Jessica Miller

02:19 – 02:53

And of course, ask for the sale so that your business thrives. So, I am going to break these things down for you today and we’re going to go each one of these things one by 1. And I’m going to show you how these are the key areas underneath this umbrella of asking for what you want that are going to have the biggest momentum in your business. And I cannot wait for you to take them, run with them, and ask for everything in this year going forward. Okay, so the first piece is asking for that guidance.

Jessica Miller

02:54 – 03:34

You are a big thinker, you are an entrepreneur and a business owner, you have all these ideas. Asking for guidance, asking those trusted sources to get insight that help you fast track your growth is one of the most powerful things that you can do. Going to those trusted people, knowing who they are, getting out there and asking them, what do you think about this? What should I do? Have you done this before? What were the results? Can you help me see where I might be missing something? All of those things to help guide you toward making good decisions and going where you wanna go is the super highway to getting there.

Jessica Miller

03:35 – 04:08

And asking for the guidance with those trusted people and those experts is one of the quickest ways for you to fuel your own growth. I have seen so many people hold themselves back. They don’t want to ask for the guidance, they don’t want to put themselves out there, they want to research it on their own. Here’s the thing, everyone, someone has likely done what you want to do. Tapping into that person’s wealth of knowledge is faster, more cost-effective, and more powerful than trying to put all of these pieces together in your brain without the experience.

Jessica Miller

04:09 – 04:41

So, number 1, who can you ask for guidance around that dream, that goal, that work stream, that product, that launch, that stage you wanna be on in the year going forward. Who are they? And then I want you to put on your calendar a time when you’re going to ask them. You’re gonna send that email, you’re gonna drop that DM, you’re going to, I don’t know, send them a voicemail, you’re going to pitch that podcast. Whatever it is, you’re going to ask for the guidance that you need to get there. Okay? So, number 1, ask for the guidance.

Jessica Miller

04:42 – 05:37

Number 2, ask for help. Ask for it without feeling weak because the strongest leaders know when to seek support. As a coaching consultant, guess what I have? Coaches and consultants of my own. There is a whole board of directors that I have that guide my life, that are there to help me make choices, whether it is as a business owner, a parent, a wife, anything, there are experts and you need them too. So, who are those people that are there or who are you going to put in place to ask for help? If something is not going well, if you need a VA or support in that way, if you are not the tech guru and you need support to do that, where are those key areas in your life where let’s just say you start with 2 of them, that you’re going to ask for help right now.

Jessica Miller

05:38 – 06:19

I want you to pause this if you need to, write down those 2 areas where if you could get help today, it would create the biggest momentum in your business. You do not need to struggle alone. There is no badge of honor for struggling. Don’t let that be you. No one can do it alone. It takes a village, literally, in business and in life. So, the faster that you can understand that asking for help is a superpower and it is a way for you to get a better outcome and get it more quickly and take the emotional and mental burden and physical burden off of you doing it all, which as an established and successful business owner, this is a crutch for many of us.

Jessica Miller

06:19 – 07:08

We think we have to do it. You do not. And the key to your next level of growth is asking for help now from a place of confidence and conviction and knowing that it is the best thing you could possibly do for you and your business and it is not a weakness. So, ask for help. Number 3 is asked to get into that room. Whether it is on a stage, a podcast, a power pack mastermind, whatever it is, where do you want to be? Who do you need to ask to get there? Some of the most amazing opportunities that I have gotten, especially as it relates to things like stages or in groups that I want to be in, is I saw the opportunity and I took a deep breath and I sent that message.

Jessica Miller

07:09 – 07:42

And I asked if they needed somebody extra to be in that room or if they needed this topic on that podcast or if they were looking for this thing that I could offer. Even if it was just support, people in these places that have podcasts or they have groups, guess what they’re always looking for? Amazing people like you to get in front of their audience. Sometimes you don’t have to have that all fleshed out, like it’s this beautiful, pretty, buttoned up pitch. It’s just, it’s an opportunity that you see and you want to seize it.

Jessica Miller

07:42 – 08:25

And so where can you ask to get in that room? This includes the people that are connected to that room. So, let’s just say like you wanted to be on, you know, a podcast or a show with Oprah, you know, maybe it’s not that easy to send Oprah an email, but who is connected to her? Who is connected to the people that are connected to her that you could ask if they need some support in this area or how you can get in that room. The first step is asking. It is asking for that opportunity to talk about what it is you’re seeing and offering to assist these people in ultimately getting what they want, which helps you get what you want.

Jessica Miller

08:25 – 09:01

So, who are those people? What are those rooms? What are those opportunities that you can lean into in this new year to get you closer to what you want. And it’s really amazing what happens when you start asking for these things in that context. You will be shocked at the doors that open up, the connections you get, the relationships that are fostered. And even if it’s not a short-term thing, like I reached out to this person, asked for this thing, I get it right now. Make no mistake, you have planted a powerful, powerful seed. So, get in the room, Ask for that opportunity.

Jessica Miller

09:02 – 09:54

Who, where, when are you going to do that? And again, put it on that calendar. The next thing to ask for is how you can help other people. I cannot tell you how many doors were open for me just by having conversations with others. Conversations that allow you to think through the lens of curiosity, collaboration, partnership, really that stewardship on how you can be an asset and a help to other people. And when you start to ask for more information and for what is going on in these situations and how you can be helpful, you will be amazed at what comes out of it, the creativity, the opportunities that people start to put pieces together because they see you as an asset.

Jessica Miller

09:55 – 10:38

They see you with a servant heart and they see you with the intention of really trying to impact other people in a very positive way. And so much magic happens in that moment. I have found that whether it is through a purely sales conversation or a networking conversation or just a conversation because I’m in a room or I’m in an orbit with other people where I’m like, this person seems really interesting or I just want to know more about what it is they said and what is going on there that has completely changed the relationships that I’ve had, how much stronger they are, the trust it has created with people because they know that I’m actually there to listen and to be creative and help them.

Jessica Miller

10:38 – 11:33

There are several times where I have discovered through those conversations that the way that I can best help them is to connect them with other awesome people. There’s also been times where I’ve had conversations where I have known, hey, I have this thing that is going to help solve that problem right now. But I’m coming to that conversation from the perspective of serving and helping people. And through that, all of these amazing things have transpired. And sometimes that has led to sales, sometimes that has led to amazing relationships, sometimes it’s just really led to this beautiful place of reciprocity where you know you’ve done so much good in the world for this person that it’s just going to swirl around you and it is creating something in your vibe and in your aura and in your business that is going to help you tenfold in some capacity, even if it’s not transpiring right in front of you in that moment, but the good vibe is there.

Jessica Miller

11:33 – 12:12

And it is so powerful in how that moves your business forward and gives you confidence and you’ve helped someone and you’ve talked about the things that you know you know about. And it’s so, so good. So, who are those other people in your orbit? And I bet if you just take 2 minutes and you pause this and you think about your last 30 days, who are people that have come across your desk or come across your path that you are thinking about that you know they need some help, that you could reach out and say, hey, I’ve been thinking about this thing that we talked about or this thing you said in the meeting, or I saw your post.

Jessica Miller

12:12 – 12:39

And do you have 15 minutes because I have some thoughts about that or some questions? I’d just, I’d love to ask you, Maybe I can help. Oh, my goodness, when is the last time you got a message like that, right? I mean, who would say no to that? And who would hesitate to ask that? But we do. We hold it back. It might sound weird, or we might think it might be received in a way that we don’t mean it. Who cares? Get grounded. Have that servant heart. And ask to help other people. How can I help you?

Jessica Miller

12:39 – 13:11

And the next time you’re at a holiday party, or a networking session, or you name it, listen from that place. And ask for how you can help other people through those eyes of curiosity and collaboration. So, I want you, like I said, pause this for 2 minutes. Just write down, who are those people? Last 30 days, last quarter, whatever. Think about them. Go through that mental Rolodex in your brain. Or look at your calendar and remind yourself of those meetings that you had, or those networking sessions, or whatever, where you were in the presence of other people.

Jessica Miller

13:11 – 13:49

And who is somebody you can help right now? Let me tell you, talk about spring boarding your year, feeling amazing, and in gratitude for just everybody in the world, this is the way to do it. Because people need your help, and they need it unattached. And there’s so many things that can come out of sending your business into another path or another opportunity that comes through that curiosity. So, ask for help. And last but not least, ask for the sales and make offers confidently that drive revenue without desperation or sleaze. You are not here to manipulate people to buy your stuff.

Jessica Miller

13:49 – 14:28

You are here to share what it is that you do, tell people how you can help them, and then make the offer where it makes sense. And Those things, whether it’s like a call to action in your post or it’s a conversation you’re having where you’re asking for that sale where it makes sense or you’re offering for somebody to take a look at this thing because you have this promotion going on or you have an offer that you know can solve this problem, asking for the sale is such a huge, huge opportunity and way for you to get what you want, which is sales, in this capacity especially.

Jessica Miller

14:29 – 15:03

So where are you holding yourself back from asking for those sales, from confidently talking about your offers, making an offer, and really helping people get out of the pain that they’re in and to everything that they want, which is to solve their problem? Why are you holding yourself back? What is going on there? And if it’s just one of those things where we get into these patterns and routines where we’re like talking to people and we’re out there and we’re networking and we’re doing the thing and maybe we’re writing the blog or writing the post or sending the email, but we’re not actually asking for the sale, it is time to stop doing that.

Jessica Miller

15:04 – 15:55

You are in business to help other people. You’re also in business to thrive financially. And the way you thrive is by making sales. The way you help people solve their problems is by selling them something that can solve the problem. You have to ask for the sale though. So where are those places where you’re holding yourself back? And can you commit to stepping up and putting yourself in the room, asking to be in the room, asking how to make that happen, and then asking for the sale when you’re there. I have to tell you, the more excited and the more you can get yourself into the headspace where you are changing lives and therefore changing the world through your offers, through your sales, the more confidently you can stand in that space, the more money you will make, the more people you will help, and the more amazing you will feel.

Jessica Miller

15:56 – 16:30

Because I have to tell you, when I started really digging into this, When I started looking at my offers and looking at my business through the lens that I had something that could really change the entire trajectory of somebody’s life, and I put those pieces together so that the thought that I had in my head was, if somebody buys and consumes this offer, they have hit the jackpot. They have hit the jackpot. I am going to make this so valuable. I am so confident in the result that I cannot wait to tell everybody about it.

Jessica Miller

16:30 – 17:03

I want every single person that has this problem to no longer have it. I am going to run alongside them, cheering them on, giving them these solutions, and making sure that they’re getting over that goal line. My business exploded, and nothing felt better than asking people to take advantage of that. Because I knew it was the thing that they were waiting for to get where they wanted to go. So, asking for that sale, doing it with confidence, feeling amazing about it, and giving people the gift of feeling amazing and solving their problem, it is just the best thing about being a business owner.

Jessica Miller

17:03 – 17:37

So where can you ask for that sale? Where are you holding yourself back? If you could look at your offers right now, what is that one offer that you know is amazing? People are asking about it. They always want it. When they go and consume it, they get great results. And you can lean into asking people for the sale and sharing that offer confidently going forward into your year. one thing, one offer, start with that. Look at your numbers from the last year. You know, what’s selling? What do people love? Start there and really figure out like where, where is that sticking point?

Jessica Miller

17:37 – 18:09

What’s going on there? How can you just dial up making that, you know, that opportunity for the sale also more streamlined? That’s another way of asking it. Maybe you’re not somebody who’s on like a sales call where you’re making an offer in that way. But if you clean up that sales journey and that path to the sale, it’s the same thing. You’re allowing that sale, that offer to get in front of people and make it easier. That’s another way. So where can you do that? What one thing, one offer could you do that? So just in summary, this is your year to ask for everything.

Jessica Miller

18:10 – 18:46

Ask for everything. Remember many times the opportunities are sitting right in front of you. The thing that is getting in the way is you. It’s you not asking for it. It’s you not going for it, but you can do this. It is one of the simplest, most powerful levers that you have in your business. And let’s just say, what is the worst thing that could happen? Someone’s going to say no. So what? Who cares? You move on. Or they’re going to say, no, but here’s another option. Awesome. Moving you closer to the goal. Or no, but why don’t you check out this thing?

Jessica Miller

18:46 – 19:18

Great. Another option moving you across that goal. one of my coaches said to me at one point, you’re either winning or learning. That is, it. You’re either getting what you want or you’re figuring out the next best way to ultimately get what you want. And that is true. And business is for the bold. It’s for the brave. And you all who are listening to this podcast, you have got what it takes. So, these are the 5 areas I really want you to consider asking for what you want. So just to recap, number 1, ask for guidance.

Jessica Miller

19:18 – 19:46

None of us get through this alone. You have to go to those people that are experts, find out how they did it, what they suggest. It is the super highway to what you want in a faster, more efficient way. So, ask for guidance, ask for help where you need it. If you need to hire that VA, if you need someone to help you with the tech, whatever you need from the help department, ask for it. And ask for it quickly. Don’t wait. And this includes your personal life, your health, your finances, whatever it is. Ask for help.

Jessica Miller

19:46 – 20:19

There are people out there who are dying to solve this problem for you. So just ask for it. Ask to get in the room. What podcast, what stage, what power-packed mastermind with all those A-listers do you want to be in? Go for it. This is your permission slip to go after it and ask for it. So asked to get in that room and watch those doors fly open. Ask to help other people. You will be shocked at what happens when you come to the table with curiosity and that collaborative perspective and an open heart. People can sense your energy.

Jessica Miller

20:19 – 20:48

So, dial into that grounded place where you’re there to really listen and help and be of service and watch how much that opens so many pathways for your business. Not to mention It feels amazing. So, it is one of the best things you can do. Ask people, how can I help you? What can we do together? How could this look that will really raise all of these boats, right? It’s raising those tides and it makes a huge difference. And last but not least, ask for the sale. You are an amazing business. You’re here to solve people’s problems.

Jessica Miller

20:49 – 21:18

Ask people if you can. That is really what this is about. And do it from the place of, I am here to have a big impact. I am here to be someone who is thriving in my business. The way that I do that is to solve people’s problems. And the way they solve people’s problems is by buying my offer. So, get jazzed about your offer. If you need to dial that in, if you need to look at it and say, listen, how do I uplevel this so that I am in a full-on tizzy about how amazing this is and I just want to tell everyone, do it.

Jessica Miller

21:18 – 21:51

Ask yourself those questions and then ask for the sale. So, I cannot wait to hear all the success stories. Go back, pause this recording and make sure that you take each one of these things and you develop a 2-minute plan of how you’re gonna make it a priority. This year coming forward is the year that you ask for what you want, uninhibited, confidently, and with that clear intention of what you want and where you wanna go, and you ask for it. I cannot wait to hear all the success stories. You got this. Until next week, everyone, have an amazing week.
